Biography

Janet Schulman joined the faculty at American Jewish University in 2004 as a Lecturer in Jewish and Western Civilization and served as Service Learning Supervisor. In 2006, she began teaching in the Nonprofit Management program.

Ms. Schulman is currently the Interim Executive Director at the Junior Chamber of Commerce.  She holds a Masters Degree in Social Work and in Public Administration. She has more than 25 years of executive experience in the nonprofit sector and has provided strong leadership, board development, strategic planning, volunteer and staff management, resource development and organizational development to a wide variety of agencies.  As CEO of Special Olympics Southern California, Ms. Schulman led a successful agency-wide reorganization that resulted in significant programmatic and financial growth.  As the founding Executive Director of Big Sisters of Los Angeles, she led a newly-formed small community-based agency to become a large, well respected and highly visible organization, both locally and nationally.  She has served as the Interim Executive Director/CEO of Bienvenidos and Westside Children’s Center and is an independent consultant in the nonprofit sector.
